When the celebrant begins the Mass, he signs himself with the sign of the cross, invoking the Three Persons of the Blessed Trinity within the symbol of redemption. He then recites a portion of Psalm 42:
“Judge me, O God, and distinguish my cause from the nation that is not holy: deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man. For Thou art my God and my strength.” This is a psalm of king David. It is particularly applied to the Mass on Passion Sunday at the Introit because David is a type of our Lord, Jesus Christ. A ‘type’ means a ‘figure,’ indicating someone or something else than the thing or person actually mentioned. Here, the psalm is written by David, but it prefigures Jesus Who was to come and stand against the ‘unjust nation’ which is Judea after it embraced the pagan gods of Babylon. It is Jesus Whom King David is speaking of, asking God to protect Him from the deceitful and unjust Judeans, ‘de gente non sancta’ - the unholy nation.
Jesus is addressing the people who witnessed His miracles, and who marveled at His wisdom. Jesus is speaking to the Scribes and Pharisees.
Who were the Scribes and Pharisees? Actually, the Scribes and Pharisees were the “Protestants” of the Old Testament, just as the ‘Scribes and Pharisees’ of our present day are the apostates from the true Roman Catholic Church, that is, the Modernists.
It would appear that the Scribes and Pharisees were ‘ecumenizing’ with the temple before finally taking it over completely, because the Gospel tells us that Jesus was addressing them in the treasury while preaching in the temple.
More precisely, the Scribes and Pharisees were a distinct class that arose during the Babylonian captivity. A ‘scribe’ was not necessarily an evil person. In the Old Testament, Esdras was not only a priest, but also a scribe The word meant a scholar well versed in the Law. Not only well versed in the Law, but someone who set his mind to live according to the Law.
In the New Testament, the scribes are presented as a distinctive body of scholars who are called “grammateis” or “nomikoi” (lawyers), or “nomodidaskaloi” (teachers of the law). These scribes received the honorary title of rabbi. The modern rabbi is the twin brother of the Protestant minister in that both are laymen, not priests.
In the beginning, the teaching of the Law was restricted to priests and Levites. Now, laymen also devoted themselves to its study, interpretation and exposition. These scribes formed an independent professional class of lay theologians and lawyers.
Already in the second century B.C. the scribe was given a very honorable position and it was during this time that opposition arose and increased between this caste of zealous laymen and the priests (many of whom favored the Hellenized culture for Judea). In this struggle, the Hassideans, the followers of the scribes, became the forerunners of the Pharisees.
In the New Testament, most of the scribes were Pharisees. The principal scribes settled in Jerusalem. After the destruction of the temple, the prestige of the Levitical priesthood diminished, while that of the scribes increased.
Their ordinances of the oral Law were collected and written in the Mishna, which is a part of the Talmud.
The rabbis of today are the successors of the scribes, the rabbis of two thousand years ago, and follow the Talmud as their religious guide. Note, it is not the Bible, but the Talmud that is their religious guide.
Their numerous enactments concerning the interpretation of the Ten Commandments, observance of the Sabbath, fasting, purifications, etc. were considered as binding as or even more important than the written Law.
Being knowledgeable in the Law, the scribes performed judicial duties. They served as judges or assessors in the courts. Many of them belonged to the Sanhedrin, and consequently, exercised considerable influence.
They also had the duty of instruction. Each noted scribe gathered about him a number of pupils. St. Paul was among the pupils of the famous Pharisee, Gamaliel I.
Since the entire life of the believers, both social and religious, was centered in the Law, the scribes were assured a prominent position in the community. People were afraid to think for themselves for fear of the rabbis.
The scribes did not fail to impress upon the people their importance. For example, honor and respect for them (the scribes) come next to veneration of God. In many instances, a son must prefer his teacher or scribe to his own father. The people are taught that some of the words of the Law are of greater or lesser importance, but the words of the scribes are all-important, etc.
Even though our Lord quoted from some of the more common rabbinical maxims, He expounded a teaching different from the scribes, both in form and substance. Anyone, then, who would suggest the idea that ‘Christianity came from Judaism’ is talking nonsense. Christianity is the continuation of the true faith perfected by Jesus, the Christ, and built not on Talmudic self-interest, but on the prophets and apostles. - all of whom these ‘scribes’ killed!
When the Magi came to Jerusalem in search of the Messiah, Herod consulted the scribes; at the age of twelve Jesus was found in the temple sitting in the midst of the teachers or scribes.
Our Lord began His public preaching of the Gospel without having attended the school of any great scribe; without seeking the approbation of the scribes for His teaching, and without being attached to their oral traditions.
Inevitably, Our Lord would, sooner or later, come into conflict with them. Jesus taught that He came to establish the Kingdom of God and to enter this Kingdom it was necessary to undergo spiritual regeneration; He preached a justice exceeding the superficiality of the scribes and Pharisees.
Jesus lays down principles on His own authority in the moral code of the Sermon on the Mount. There He distinguishes these principles from the oral traditions and interpretations of the scribes. Even the people perceive the difference.
Some of the scribes came from Jerusalem to hear Him preach, but because He was outside the jurisdiction of the Sanhedrin, they did not actively interfere with His work until He went up to Jerusalem “where He would be betrayed into the hands of non-believers, suffer and die.” They watched Him carefully and attempted to undermine His influence and to make calumnious accusations against Him.
They accused Him of blasphemy for forgiving sins; of being in league with the devil; of frequently violating the Sabbath by curing people on that day; of transgressing the traditions of the ancients by permitting His disciples to eat with unwashed hands; they demanded from Him a sign from heaven; they murmured against Him for eating with sinners; they tried to test Him on the interpretation of the Law by bringing an adulteress before Him; they questioned Him on His authority to teach the people in the temple and preach the Gospel.
Our Lord condemned them for not heeding the call of John the Baptist to repentance; He severely rebuked them for their hypocrisy and uttered eight woes against them. As members of the Sanhedrin, the scribes voted for the condemnation of Jesus, and from beneath the Cross they mocked Him.
Now, I repeat: For anyone to pretend that Christianity comes from Judaism has to be a pathetic liars at worst, or a dangerous ignoramus, at best.
With good reason did St. John Damascene say that all modern heresies have their origin in Judaism. Close examination of every heresy proves to be a departure from the teaching of Jesus Christ of an order above the natural; of an authority which does not come from man, but is from God. Both the Conciliar Church of Vatican II and the seemingly opposed Traditionalists, are guilty of the same errors as the scribes and Pharisees.
The intense hatred for Jesus Christ and His Mystical Body shows itself in the irrational vituperations against ecclesiastical authority which opposes them, motivates the ‘Christian scribes’ to insult the only authority which Jesus Christ entrusted to His apostles and through them down the ages to legitimate Bishops.
Deep, hidden, subconscious passions surface to the conscious level when challenged by the truth. Everyone who is not of God necessarily opposes the truth that is from God.
Why were the scribes and Pharisees, who spoke of God, so opposed to Jesus? Certainly, it could not be a lack of intelligence because they were intelligent. The answer lies in the will. They loved themselves more than they loved the truth. When the truth became an obstacle to their willful ambitions, it was not their ambitions that were modified to conform to the truth, but the truth had to be ‘re-interpreted’ to accommodate their ambitions.
Although they spoke of God, the scribes did not know what they were talking about because, as Our Lord said: “If I say the truth, why do you not believe me? He that is of God, heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God.”
Jesus speaks the truth to these crypto-Satanists. They are ‘Satanists’ because they claim to speak of God, but it cannot be the true God, as Jesus said, because if they truly believed in God, they would honor Jesus and would be able to perceive in Him all that He said of Himself.
Those who serve the devil are aware of their secret motives in attacking truth and virtue. They accuse the good of evil, and call their evil, ‘good.’
Jesus calls them ‘liars.’ A liar is someone who deliberately seeks to deceive by promoting falsehood. Was Jesus ‘anti-Semitic’ when He exposed the evil will of the scribes and Pharisees? He called them ‘liars’ because they claimed to speak of God, but in reality were ignorant of God. They exploited the credulity of the people just as charlatans of every age have done, and continue to do.
This perverse attitude of the scribes and Pharisees is enshrined in the present-day synagogue, is promoted by the laymen who control the synagogue - the rabbis- and has effectively been spread throughout the world wherever the ‘Synagogue of Satan’ has established itself.
The rabbis took up stones to kill Jesus, thus proving most eloquently by their actions the true spirit within them: the spirit of their father, Satan, whose works they do. These are the people whom John Paul II praised as “our elder brothers” and whose religion is on an equal level with Christianity! What an absolute absurdity.
Jesus Christ said: “I go, and you will seek me, and in your sin you will die. Where I go you cannot come”(John 8,21). These rabbis (scribes) will die in their sin, and therefore cannot go where Jesus is going, that is, to heaven.
These Talmudists continue the same doctrine today. And the same words spoken to their ancestors is just as valid today. If, therefore, these Talmudists do not repent and abandon their ways, they can only reap what they have sown. Jesus speaks to them today: “You are from below, I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world. Therefore, I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sin.” (Ibid.8,23-24).
Because of the truth contained in the Holy Scriptures concerning these antichrists, they prevail upon their new-found disciples within the Christian Church to purge the Scriptures of the word of God condemning these liars and murderers.
Jesus spoke directly to these false Judeans when He said to them: “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that of myself I do nothing: but that I preach only what the Father has taught me. And he who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I do always the things that are pleasing to Him.” (Ibid.8, 28-29).
The hypocritical attempt to shift the blame for Christ’s crucifixion and death onto the Romans is a typical tactic of these liars. Despite the fact that many among this rabbinical cult know the truth, they are forced by fear and the lie of collective guilt to remain in their psychological ghettoes built by their own rabbis. Jesus was quite direct when He told the rabbis who could not understand the supernatural truths spoken by Him: “Why do you not understand my speech? Because you cannot listen to my word. The father from whom you are is the devil, and the desires of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie he speaks from his very nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (Ibid.8, 43-44). This, then, is the reason why the rabbis cannot understand what Jesus is saying: “But because I speak the truth you do not believe me.” (Ibid. 8, 45).
And so it is with every modern ‘scribe and Pharisee’ - whether circumcised or uncircumcised; regardless of whatever secondary name is used to disguise the essential hypocrisy of the enemies of truth. The use of catchy ‘Catholic-sounding’ titles is nothing more than a mask to hide the ugliness of error like serpentine venom, ready to poison the unwary victim. Such names as “The Rock” or “Fidelity” imply solidity in Catholic doctrine and faithfulness to the teachings of the Church. Both, however, prove to be nothing more than the work of scribes and Pharisees who do the work of their true father.
Those who are with Christ and His true Church can expect to suffer the same fate as their divine Master. They ought to prepare themselves, then, to have stones thrown at them as did their spiritual ancestors in the scribe business when they, too, cast stones at Jesus with the intention of killing Him for speaking and teaching the truth.
